Building Regulations.
Building Regulations are national standards for England and Wales which apply to most types of building development. They ensure that the built environment in which we all live is a safe place and include requirements for conservation of fuel and power. Certain projects do not need Planning Permission but you will nearly always need Building Regulations Permission.
You usually need building regs approval if you:
  • put up a new building
  • extend or alter an existing building
  • install services or fittings in a building, eg washing and sanitary facilities, hot water cylinders, foul water and rainwater drainage, replacement windows and any fuel burning appliances
At Manor Surveyors we provide comprehensive and detailed plans which obtain this approval prior to starting physical work.
This is where detailed construction drawings are prepared, indicating construction methods for foundations, floors, walls, roofs etc. Some small projects do not require Building Regulations Permission, but to be sure that the construction is adequate, and in order to obtain competitive builders prices, it is necessary to have construction drawings.
As part of our service, we will obtain and complete the relevant application forms and submit them to your local Council and thereafter liaise and negotiate with them on your behalf to secure the approval.
